Sat Sun 10 11 Nov 2007

Saturday was a stunning day with the core of my supporting team present, some 40 plus people. Colin (UK), Julian (Holland) and Alan (Centurion) did their own little shavathons. Eileen and John (Pretoria) and Francois (Johannesburg) did theirs last week-end. Hennie (my aunt) arrived from Singapore to surprise my mom and she will spend 2 weeks in Cape Town. The weather played along though it was quite cold. I am just waiting for the last contributions on the money front. Dylan, Sean and all the ladies were too attached to their hair! I am having technical problems getting some photo’s uploaded. I need to chat to the South Africa Blogging Queen tomorrow.

And THANK YOU to all who participated in this fund raiser for terminally ill children.

love you all

Hi Alida,

Andre just forwarded me the link to your blog today and I've been reading all of your posts with keen interest.

Sorry to hear about this curve-ball that's been thrown at you and I sincerely hope you give it the belting it deserves!

I was trying to work out how long ago it was since I first got to know you - 1984 comes to mind - and it was quite obvious then that you had a will and determination not to be taken lightly. Even scary at times. I think the only mistake you made was when you and Ian bid R300 on me to win some-other golf comp at Infogold. I was flattered of course, but always felt a bit guilty about letting you guys down the next day :-(

But it was your positive thinking that counted though, and I know you'll use that same resolve at a time like this when it really counts.

I am glad that you are surrounded by so much friendship and support, and will be thinking of you and your family (good-looking boys you've got btw, Ian excepted!) as I follow your brave journey through this adversity.

Love and best wishes,
Mark

Hi Alida,

Had to catch up with your diary. Seems like it's going with ups and downs. This is what most of my "cancer friends" go trough. One of them had surgery last thursday and will go visit him end of this week at hospital. Also see the family is really spoiling mum and sis. That's the way it should be, hé. Did you know, with the tennisclub I am playing at we every year organize a big charity event and the proceeds go to a cancer fund. This year we got to 4000 euro!
Keep writing and smiling!

Dear Alida
I am really sorry to hear about this rough ride you have been thrown. Just to let you know that I have been thinking about you, and am sending positive energy. If anyone can tell this thing where to shove off - it is you. Lots of wishes and strength - your family sounds like they are being a pillar of strength, what a blessing.
Good luck with everything,
Abigail
